Cross-Border Academic Rigour: Inside GMU's Joint International Dissertation Defense Protocol

Academic integrity and research quality remain the bedrock of GlobalMind University's dual award degrees. The Postgraduate & Doctoral College has published details of its Joint International Dissertation Defense protocol, which governs the final assessment phase of all dual master's and undergraduate honours programmes.

Under this protocol, every dual-degree candidate is assigned a primary supervisor from GMU and a secondary reader or co-supervisor from the partnering university (such as the University of London, Arizona State University, IU Germany, or Coventry University). The student's final thesis or enterprise capstone must demonstrate original applied research, ethical compliance, and empirical rigor.

The final viva voce examination is conducted via recorded telepresence, with external examiners participating from multiple jurisdictions. Candidate identity is authenticated through biometrics, and transcripts of the defense are archived in the university's institutional repository.
